National poetry writing month
A month of madness

A publican is for life. Not just for bonfire

Spare a thought if you will
On bonfire night, behave
For publicans and all bar staff
hate when you misbehave

They put up with shenanigans
from drunken bonfire sorts
Swearing at your publican
is not a kindness sport

Try not to trash their lovely pub
Nor show off to your mates
Do leave it as best you can
Keep in the nicest state

Take care in using toilets there
Do keep the toilet clean
Breaking sinks, cos you can't wait!
It really just plain mean

If you cannot do these things
The best is, now to think
If you cannot be that nice
It's best if you don't drink!

Be thankful to those publicans
At Bonfire Night they're brave
They may decide to shut doors hard
If you do not behave!
