Sence

Today’s (optional) prompt is to write a poem in which you very specifically describe something in terms of at least three of the five senses. So, for example, your poem could carefully describe the smell of something, the taste of something, and the sound of something.

The storm
Can you smell the start of a storm
the first rain of the year
the aroma of life to flow
the changing coming near

Can you touch the first raindrop
that splashes in your hand
on your face it washes down
to revitalise the land

Can you hear the sound of the storm
the cracking in the sky
A thundercloud so loud and free
soon it will pass you by.

Spring mud

I love the smell of spring
the scent of life anew
the pong of cows in meadows
the whiff of spreading poo.

The sound of sheep’s a baaing
the noise of moo cows too
the thud of bulls a mating
and stags a shagging too

I love the touch of freshness
of skipping through the grass
it’s a shame, it’s still quite muddy
as I’ve fallen on my arse.
