Bonfire season updated

 Remember this reason
In the Autumnal season
In Sussex, it's the time to be great
With torchlights a flamming
And ritual like maiming-
of effigies*1 of figures that you hate

So thousands go gather
talking old bonfire blather
In our County, which makes us feel proud
With plenty of hoops*2
And brightly dressed groups
With warning, they are known to be loud

The skies fill with light
That will push back the night
With the songs from the drums and the bands
This procession goes miles
bringing thousands of smiles
It is cool to be a part of this brand

A lovely addition
for an Autumn tradition
In our land that is Sussex by the sea
But there is now a warning
and a hangover in the morning
Do keep away if You're P.C

*1. Effies are usually wire framed and plastered with tons of paper mache. usually of some political figure. Guy or a Known simply as the enemy of the bonfire. They are stuffed with fireworks and blown to smithereens.
Not all societies have these.
There are also tabs. I usually get these mixed up. Tabs I think is a depiction of an event rather than just a person.
Either way, They both get blown to smithereens.
*2 Hoops. Each bonfire society has there own set of hoops
Or stripey jumpers to normal people. If you say stripy jumper you are frowned upon.
