In summer

In summer its all flesh in shorts
(an elderly chap in a mankini!)
I shudder at the thought.
its all ‘too nice to be inside’
so they say, lets stay out all day
go to the beach, that’ll be nice
you go once, but don’t go twice
next time you wont be bold
because the waters ruddy cold
The thing about winter
it means you can say
I think I’ll stay in bed all day
an extra quilt upon my bed
a woolly hat upon my head
bed socks, the colour white
in the duvet, tucked up tight
a water bottle shaped like Winnie the pooh
They'd laugh if they knew

(dedicated the Tas Mania)
