Of birds and names

Of feathered friends, they hide their heads
beneath downy feathered wings
such shame they have they must complain
when humans go and give them names

For the swan that’s mute is not that so
his call is loud and rather low
but then it could be so much worse
the whooper swan he don't half curse.

The bean goose bows and nods his head
I’ve never been in a vegetable bed
is that runner, French or jumping bean?
All of them I’m not so keen
I do not know why you complain
for me they have given an awful name
a puffin? Please its worse than death
I’m always sounding out of breath

You know what really gets my rag
the fact they went and named me shag
In modern times this name needs sorting
people assume I’m always courting

Why they went and named me booby
always gets me ruddy moody
my big blue feet are my best feature
these humans really need a teacher

was I named after my feathers red
and my bright blue beak upon my head
I thought I’d go and get some luck
but no they named me ruddy duck!
