Cycle of the seasons

The cycle of the seasons

We wait for melting ice and cold
Restoring warmth into the world
By goddess with a wand of white
And god, the bearer of great light
Pushes back the dark on sombre wings
Welcoming all again to spring.

The natural man of all things green
Sits proud beside the earthen queen
The sound of laughter fills the air
Dancing with the lovers fair
Around a maypole, to fertile all
The sound of horns, a hunters call

First light, comes with shafts of gold
Across sacred stones that link the world
The god and goddess in a magical way
Are equal now through night and day
Beacons are lit to rejoice the sun
But soon the cycle will be done

The corn god sends his children bold
To help men harvest wheat of gold
Again the day and night are one
The darkness wakes, so sleep the sun
Gather all now, the leaves are falling
The sound of winter comes a calling

Again all mankind start to rejoice
To sing with love on a magic voice
New Year, the veil of open doors
Welcoming friends and ancestors
The coldest of the darkest night
Begins in hope for once first light
