National poetry writing month
A month of madness

diversion

With traffic jams aplenty
and road works straight from hell
The art of driving on our roads
will never go that well

A journey that took minutes
now takes an hour more
Even when you're traveling
five miles from your front door

Be warned if not a local
For road signs are a pain
That little road diversion
takes you up a country lane

It never has directions
The road seems extra long
The Sat Nav is now crying
That map says it's all wrong

These arrows of diversion
of the evil yellow breed
Will start you off in Brighton
and will end you up near Leeds
